If you only have 5 minutes:
- If a job board or CV site is breached, your profile and stored CVs will be at risk
- Never add unnecessary data about yourself to a CV, such as National Insurance number.
- Be guarded with what you write about your referees and employers on job sites.
What is a… job board?
Jobs boards and job sites are used extensively, the most well known being Linked In. Users are often concerned that their personal data is accessible in such sites, but those same users often share personal and often critical information on documents uploaded to jobs sites.
In a 2019 survey of 2000 job seekers, over 10% added their national insurance number to their CV. Others added date of birth, address and other personally identifiable information – even though it was not requested.
